You will find it either on a sticker on the underside of the lid of your meter, or on a seal near the meter.
What happens if I continue using my meter after the expiration date?
You can be sentenced up to six months imprisonment, up to 500,000 JPY in fines, or both. (Per Article 172 of the Measurement Act)
Degradation of a meter’s functionality can cause the building manager to have to pay more to water utilities operators than that being paid by residents.
Do I also have to replace sub-meters after they expire?
Yes, they must be replaced.
If you have a sub-meter that is also subject to charges, the meter must not be expired.
